Hey, kids… What do u think?

    Human greatest discovery are…
    A. Food
    B. Fire
    C. Water
    D. Electricity
    E. All of the above

Think for 10 seconds and tell me what is your answer.

    (Drumming sound….)The moment of truth…

    The answer is… B. Fire

    Camp Fire

    Camp Fire

According to Dictionary.com , discovery is an act or an instance of discovering.

Until now, scholars agree that humans greatest discovery is FIRE. Ever since humans learnt how to use fire to get rid of wild beast and they don’t have to live in the cave anymore.

So, humans started to live on flat ground, they started to build houses on their own. Besides, fire helps to cook food, fire also helps to make a lot tool for farming, hunting, cutting.

In conclusion, we can say that because of fire, humans were able to achieve the civilazation we enjoy today!

    What?!!!

A fish can live without water…!!!

Yes, kids. This how wonderful our earth is.

Let me introduce you to Mr. Lungfish.

A South American Lungfisg. Found this from http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/vertebrates/sarco/dipnoi.html

A South American Lungfisg. Found this from http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/vertebrates/sarco/dipnoi.html

Today, we can fonly find lungfish in Africa, South America and Australia.

So, what make this fish so special that is can survive without water. Some lungfish can survive in dried up rivers for weeks or months.

Well, in waters lungfish use their gill to respirate or breathe. If the rivers dried up, the air will go throughh a lunglike organ called a swim bladder. This is because the swim bladder consist a lot of tiny blood capilary or in general terms blood vessels which act as lungs. (As we all know, ;) exchanges of oxygen and carbon dioxide happen in our lungs). Thus gas exchanges happen in this swim bladder thingy and our lungfish friend can keep pon surving without waters.

    What is a supertankers ?

Don’t confuse them with the tanks in the military. They travel on waters.

    Found this picture from www.auuuu.com

    Found this picture from www.auuuu.com

In fact they are large crude oil tankers which carry crude oil ranging from 150 to 300 thousand tons. With their full power on, an oil tanker with very huge inertia needs a long time to get to its maximum speed.

So kids, you might ask: “How do they stop then ?”

Well, kids. Even with engine set into reverse condition (propeller in reverse rotation), the oil tankers still need to travel about 10km before they can come to a stop. Remember ship don’t have brake. They can’t just stop.

With such a big internia on the oil tanker, they just can turn left or right as easy in driving the cars. So for every turn, the captain needs to set the direction of the propeller correctly well before the tanker make a turn.

Yo, kids. Is Cool Science Experiments For Kids again.

This time around we gonna go through walls…

Hello…, doc. How can you going through the wall…!!! This ain’t no magic.

No worries guys. This is pure science. I will explain it later, But now, is better to get our hands dirty.

Let’s prepare the material for this experiment:-
    a) a marble, if you wanna have more fun then a few
    b) a coin make it is big enough to cover the mouth of the bottle
    c) a piece of paper (11cm x 30cm)
    d) a soda bottle
    e) a cellophane tape

    Just follow these steps:-
    1. Roll the piece of paper, use the cellophane tape to make sure it holds. Now, we will have a 30cm tall cylinder shape paper roll.
    2. Put the coin on the mouth of the soda bottle.
    3. Next, we put the paper onto the mouth of the soda bottle.
    4. The moment of truth, put the marble on top of the paper roll and let it fall…
Can the marble fell into the soda bottle ? ;)
    5. What happen?… Something strange ? (Yes, the marble went in the bottle)

    Explanations:-
    Newton’s Third Law states that:
If object A exerts a force on object B, then object B will exert an equal but opposite force on object A.

Or like your teacher always say

“To every action there is an equal but opposite reaction”

In this experiments, when our marble hits the coin, the coin will produce any equal but opposite reaction/foce onto the marble, making the marble bounce back. The hitting force on the marble will causes the coin to temporary leaving the mouth of soda bottle. Thus, resulting the morble fell into the soda bottle.

    Reaction ?!!!

So your school teacher will tell you something like this…

According to Newton’s Third Law :-

To every action there is an equal but opposite reaction

But, what does he means by every action?

    Or even opposite reaction ?

    Questions, questions, questions…and more questions.

It is will simple to explain the above statement,

Punch the wall…how do you feel ? Pain right.
So when you punch the wall(action), and the wall reflect back the force of your punch on your hand(opposite reaction). That is why you feel pain.

When a car ramp into a wall at high speed…What happen ? The car bounce back from the wall.
Just go watch NASCAR, or any sports car racing.
The car ramp into the wall(action), it bounce back(opposite reaction)

Our next example is firing a gun. Warning: Hey, kids please do not please with guns. It is an serious offense. We can even hurt ourselves
When one fires his gun, he feels being pushed backwards. Fire guns(action), pushed backward(opposite reaction)

I hope everyone understand Reaction now. :D
